Burtenshaw Scoufis is a small boutique firm led by directors George Scoufis and Danny Burtenshaw who have over 60 years of experience between them. Burtenshaw Scoufis is a highly motivated team who have built a reputation for their attention to detail and quality in design. Our client based design style mediates the fine line between function, aesthetic and modern design and building trends.
George Scoufis
Director
As a registered architect and director of the practice, George provides a single point of contact for all BSA clients. George has had extensive experience as team leader and superintendent, on a broad range of projects spanning a period of 20 years. It is with this experience that George is able to ensure that all projects are delivered to the highest possible standard.
George has particular expertise in the design of tertiary sector teaching spaces, flexible workspaces, complex laboratories, lecture theatres, simulation laboratories, formal and informal learning spaces and front end strategic planning. As such, George takes a lead role in overseeing all phases of each project and the coordination of his architectural team and all other consultants. George is also well versed in WHS procedures and their practical application on site.

Harry Alexandratos
Senior Architect
Harry joined the Burtenshaw and Scoufis team in 2015 following 15 years’ experience in the profession. Having completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree at UNSW, he has gained experience both in the office environment, with architecture firms, and also on site as a managing for construction firms. Harry recently received his Certification as an Registered Architect in NSW and Green Star Accredited Professional.
Prior to working for BSA, Harry worked for both large and small architectural firms focusing on commercial and retail design. Working for Project Control Group as a design architect he directed many office fitouts for large corporate clients including Bank of Scotland, Scholastics, as well as retail within Westfield’s centres across Australia.
Harry has strong grounding in the construction and services industries with an understanding and passion for transferring inspirational design ideas to the build realm without loss of design intent. In recent years Harry has obtained a strong base of experience in the education industry with BSA, working on projects for University of NSW, University of Technology Sydney and the Western Sydney University.

Danny Burtenshaw
Office Manager
Danny began his career as an architect with the Australian Government and as a Project Manager he was responsible for, inter alia, the procurement of Australian Government Offices in the regional centres of NSW. In 1979 he established his eponymous architectural practice which over a period of 30 years developed a reputation for delivering projects on budget and on time and to the highest achievable standard.
He has a keen interest in the design output of the office and his contract management experience during the demanding construction phase of the building procurement process is invaluable. He remains committed to the pursuit of excellence for all projects delivered by Burtenshaw Scoufis Architecture.

Angela Chen
Senior Consultant
Angela is an architect and interior designer with a passion for the tertiary sector. She firstly joined Burtenshaw Scoufis Architecture & Interiors in 2002 as a Graduate of Interior Architecture from UNSW. Inspired by her work at BSA, she decided to pursue a career in Architecture and completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree at UNSW, graduating with honours.
Before re-joining BSA in 2013, Angela had gained 5 years of post-graduate experience at Suters Architects, focusing on the design and procurement of tertiary education projects in Queensland. Many of her projects have been published in interior design magazines. Her ‘H Block QUT Gardens Point’ project received the 2012 Brisbane Regional Architecture Award in the Interior Architecture category.
Angela is an advocate for innovation in design of educational facilities and is keen to develop an understanding of the emerging new approaches to pedagogy that are evolving on university campuses. Creating spaces that draw together teaching aspirations and student outcomes is a primary objective.

Veronica Chan
Senior Consultant
Veronica completed a Masters of Architecture Degree at the University of New South Wales in 2015, during which she was named on the Dean’s List of Academic Excellence. Veronica began work with Burtenshaw Scoufis as a student of Architecture and since that time she has been involved on numerous projects, focusing on design presentation, design detailing and documentation.
Veronica is well versed in CAD documentation, 3D modelling and presentation techniques. She has worked on a variety of projects throughout her time with Burtenshaw Scoufis, including residential, multi-use and educational facilities. Veronica is a member of the Green Building Council of Australia and a member of the Future Green Leaders Program.
