Shenzhen Tower

The New Neighbourhood

Collaboration and connection through space

Located in Chang-Fu Jin-Mao Tower in Shenzen, China, The University of Technology (Sydney) created a co-working and teaching space for the China based UTS research students and academics. Based on the 15th Floor, the design proposed to take advantage of the existing extensive outlook and sun penetration. By minimising built walls and rooms to the external glass façade, BSA intended on allow natural light to pull further through the floor plate. As a collaborative and agile work environment, a variety of settings to accommodate different working patterns and styles were selected to support the users. Designed with flexibility in mind, spaces can be easily combined into larger gathering spaces to host larger event or seminars, through the Kitchen Social Hub and the two Demonstration Rooms. By running collaborative and active works spaces along the external glazing, street style neighbourhoods were created, developing a sense of community among the cohort and encouraging interaction.

The Interior Fitout project includes the development of an agile open plan office areas, breakout spaces, kitchen and brainstorming areas, meeting rooms and demonstration rooms. Existing meeting rooms and amenities were expanded from the existing building core.
