UTS Collaborative Learning Spaces

Adaptable, flexible, and effective

Seamless integration of technology for next-generation learning.

Burtenshaw Scoufis Architecture were engaged by the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) to provide eight collaborative learning spaces over two floors with associated amenities, lounge areas and student-led informal teaching spaces in the recently completed UTS FEIT Building in Sydney. These collaborative learning spaces were proposed to showcase-next generation learning directions at UTS.

Each classroom is fitted with hi-tech audio-visual systems and operable walls to allow flexible use of the space provided.

BSA aimed to create a Four-star Green-star rated space with a focus on flexible use and adaptability of scale.  The space was designed to be used as a single, double or full-sized multifunctional area. BSA provided the necessary technology to allow the space to be used for presentation, examination and teaching.

The brief provided for the development of the space was detailed and the client well informed about the available related technology which ensured meaningful discussion and lively debate with the architect during the resolution of the concept and its transformation into a reality. The outcome was satisfying for both the user group and BSA.
