UTS Creative Student Services
Creative teaching space for creative students
BSA was commissioned by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to develop new teaching spaces for the Creative Student Services sector on their Broadway campus. The space involved is at level 25 of the iconic tower building and includes a student lounge, meeting rooms and administrative office areas and are referred to as “Back of House”.
BSA had previously worked with UTS on the design of their Facilities Management Offices within the tower building and that prior experience was instrumental in ensuring the effective accommodation of these new CSS facilities.
The project focuses on the interplay between interactive work areas and private spaces within an open working environment. A centralised multifunctional pod acts as a mediator between student, meeting and administration spaces. The design uses an interplay of natural and pastel finishes to highlight both the existing building envelope and new design elements. The two central pods act as identifying elements as well as a funnel to orchestrate movement between the multiple areas within the overall space.
